This book lists 1,350 baptismal records of the First Lutheran Church in Greensburg from January 1, 1821 to July 9, 1848. These records are a continuation of the baptismal records that appear in Volumes 2-4 of The German Church Records of Western Pennsylvania series also translated and transcribed by Rev. Paul Miller Ruff.

For this book, Rev. Ruff has translated and transcribed the original records from the German script as entered in church records by German pastors Rev. John M. Steck and his son, Rev. Michael J. Steck.

The baptisms of this period appear in a 1936 work self-published by Della Reagan Fischer in 1964. Differences between Ruff's work and Fischer's list are annotated in this new book by Richard A. Newhouse, who served as editor.

Funeral Record Index Available Online

The Baltzer Meyer Historical Society is fortunate to have copies of the 1918-1985 funeral records of the Felton Funeral Home which operated in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.

You may view online an index of these records, or you may purchase the printed index from BMHS: Index of Funeral Records - Felton Funeral Home, New Alexandria, PA, Westmoreland County, 1918-1985. Compiled by Richard Anthony Newhouse, 8-1/2 x 11, 61 pages, paper. [Item 073] $9.00.

Some names appear more than once in the Index. In some instances the records are for entirely different people. In other instances they are for the same person but recorded on different forms. All forms are included as the questions vary somewhat between forms.

The following three records were never completed by the funeral director: Justina M. Fotta, John F. Kiley, and Charles J. Meyers.
